"Pusherman" by Curtis Mayfield was “played” about as much as “Hold Your Head Up” or “Cold As Ice” ever has been: instrumental, and only briefly. It was used as the outro for Fish after “Love You” on 11/1/91 for a very simple reason: while he hates the aforementioned ‘70s flashback radio staples, Fish likes “Pusherman.” Always the recipient of his band members’ unending torment, they granted him a reprieve for this show as a gesture of goodwill. Interested fans may want to check out the classic black action film Superfly for a whole film-load of Mayfield’s music, including this chart-topping hit.
