Originally performed by Ella Fitzgerald and covered by a number of other jazz musicians, “Lullaby” is a song about a couple in love. While Phish’s version is decidedly less sultry (surprise!) than Ella’s, it is, nonetheless, interesting if only to show yet another color on Phish’s expansive musical palette. The lone public performance of “Lullaby” by Phish took place at Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse on 3/28/92, although fans of the song may also want to seek out the rendition from the 3/19/92 soundcheck (which frankly is worth seeking out even if you’re not a “Lullaby” fan). "Lullaby" was also teased in the middle of the 3/13/92 "Creaturelope" (which, at the risk of repeating myself, frankly is worth seeking out even if you’re not a “Lullaby” fan).
