“Autumn Leaves” is a jazz standard based on the original French "Les Feuilles Mortes" – music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by Jacques Prévert – and first performed in the U.S. by Jo Stafford. The song has been interpreted by countless musicians, notably including Bing Crosby, Cannonball Adderley, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Ricky Lee Jones... and Phish.

Phish performed “Autumn Leaves” on 8/12/89 at the wedding reception of Beth and Steven Drebber during a first set comprised exclusively of jazz standards; this is the only known Phish performance of the song. Sadly, a recording of this set does not circulate.

The falling leaves, drift by the window
The autumn leaves, of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands, I used to hold

Since you went away, the days grow long
And soon I'll hear, old winter's song
But I miss you, most of all my darling
When autumn leaves, start to fall
