Lemme ask you, Ian, who the "perpetually online nerds predicted a Twenty Years Later > "Velvet Sea" in question are. I'm quite curious.

Nailed it!

Best review for best show of the run. I find the Phish guilty, as charged.
Score: 6
Well done, Ian. I agree the whole run was loaded, but Sunday night the band and audience connected in a very special and tangible way. Open and joyful. Felt to me that connection was inspired by the nature of their jamming from KDF on: locked in full band group mind. Just exactly perfect.

Nice write up!
Some things never change - I drove up to Albany from LI on Friday with a buddy - We got the unsettling news of Phil on the road trip. We thought the band might do something to honor him - Boy, did they nail it especially on such short notice. We then drove back to LI after the show. - I had a commitment with my better half that I could not get out of. She really doesn't ask for much - so it was the least I could do.

However, on Sunday, I heard from an old deadhead buddy , saying that he and his wife were going to the show - So, of course I drove back up to Albany - hung with them - laughed about doing almost the same thing for the GD Spring of 1990 (when the venue was called the Knickerbocker) We then saw a grate SUNDAY show & I drove back to LI to crash in my own bed - wake up and go to work Monday morning. Needless to say I was a little fuzzy yesterday, but its ALWAYS worth making the trip!

Sunday night was my first (but not last) show ever. Your summary of the songs and flow of the evening SO helpful. Loved ALL of it!

Congratulations on a great review I particularly agreed with and enjoyed this passage :

Tonights epic finale admittedly feels a little less newb-friendly and more like phish for phish fans. The setlist is loaded with songs that were not played frequently (or at all) in 2024, and both sets are graced with stunning moments of improvisation. The saying Never miss a Sunday Show originated from The Grateful Dead scene, and Phish appropriately delivered a memorable, musically rich, and singular finale to a delightful and emotional one-stop fall stand.
